Where do I find  health insurance in Indian River County?

Beginning Jan 1, 2019  Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida will be the only company offering health insurance through the marketplace in Indian River County.   Residents of Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere, and surrounding communities can stop by our local office, or call us at 772-770-0700.   We are in the Sebastian Center  located at 1627 US Hwy #1, Suite 220 in the heart of Sebastian Fl.

For 2019 Florida Blue will be offering more than 35 medical plans on and off The Marketplace with deductibles ranging from $0.00 to $7350.00.

We also offer Florida Blue Dental, Florida Blue vision plans and other supplemental plans which  include  Critical Illness plans, and temporary health insurance plans.

When can I enroll in health insurance through the Marketplace?

Open enrollment opens on November 1 and ends December 15, 2018.  Plans selected during this open enrollment period will become effective on Jan 1, 2019.  After Open Enrollment has ended, a person will have to meet certain requirements in order to enroll in private health insurance.

What Health insurance plans are offered in The Marketplace?

There are 5 different levels of benefits offered:

  • BRONZE: These plans are the least expensive and typically will have higher deductibles.
  • SILVER: On average you will pay 30% of your health care costs.  Deductibles range from $3500  to $7350
  • GOLD:  On average you  will pay 20% of health care costs.  Deductibles range from $0 to $2500
  • PLATINUM:You will typically pay 10% of the health care costs, with deductibles ranging between $0 and     $1000
  • CATASTROPHIC: This plan will pay 60% of the health care costs on average. However, this is only available if you are under 30 years of age, or if you can claim a hardship exemption.

Ten Minimum Essential Benefits that must be covered:

When comparing any one of the hundreds of plans offered through the marketplace you will find they must all offer the 10 minimum essential benefits required by the (ACA) or Affordable Care Act.  These benefits include the following:

  • RX Drugs
  • In-patient hospitalization
  • Lab services
  • -patient surgical servicesOut
  • Emergency room services
  •  Maternity and after birth care
  • Mental health and substance abuse disorder services
  • Rehabilitation services
  • Habilitative services and devices
  • Routine Preventative exams
  • Disease management
  • If you insure children on a plan, the plan must include the pediatric dental and vision care. However, adults are not required to have this coverage. These are considered essential benefits that all plans have.
